Songbird Strings of Texas – Free Concert! – 3pm
Songbird Strings of Texas hails from the famously musical city of Austin, Texas. Representing the Songbird Rising Suzuki School and honoring a combined 100+ years of dedicated study, our students are excited to showcase their hard work with a program of classical music including Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Dvorak and Palladio by Karl Jenkins. Aged from 7 to 16, these impressive young students are sure to wow with a musicality that defies their age.
Biography
Laura Poyzer is a passionate music teacher and school director. An education in performance and pedagogy, spanning Wales and Austin, Texas, set the stage for the founding of Songbird Rising Suzuki School. For over a decade, Laura has guided hundreds of students in Austin, TX, on their musical journeys.
The ensemble’s story is told in the school’s ideals: Growth, Joy, and Community, and by a long-held dream of director, Laura Poyzer to return to her homeland with her students. Across Edinburgh, Chester, Bristol, Bath, and London, our performance celebrates friendship, fun, and enthusiasm for new experiences. The tour is an incredible opportunity for our student’s growth as musicians and as people. We welcome you to join us, enjoy our performance, and become a part of what is sure to be one of the most formative and memorable experiences of these young musicians’ lives.

MOZART’S REQUIEM and other great choral works on a theme of remembrance.
Duruflé Requiem – Twickenham Choral – 7pm
Join Twickenham Choral for a moving performance of Maurice Duruflé's Requiem in the beautiful surroundings of Holy Trinity Sloane Square. Composed in 1947, this deeply spiritual work blends Gregorian chant with rich harmonies to create an atmosphere of serenity and hope. Unlike more dramatic settings of the Requiem Mass, Duruflé's version offers a message of peace and consolation.
The concert also includes a performance of Rob Fenton's Ave Verum and music from cellist Oliver Simpson.
Twickenham Choral is conducted by Howard Ionascu. The choir will be joined by acclaimed soloists Cathy Bell mezzo soprano and Alexander Hopkins baritone, and accompanied by organist Andrew Lumsden.
