Battersea Choral Society – A Summer Concert – 7.30pm

‘Vivaldi's Gloria is one of the most uplifting choral works in the sacred music genre; and is a joyful hymn of praise and worship.

Next to Vivaldi’s Gloria and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, the four-part Magnificat by Durante is among the most familiar pieces of eighteenth century Italian sacred music.

Handel wrote his eleven Chandos Anthems between the years of 1717 and 1719. The anthem ‘O come, let us sing unto the Lord’ is joyous music by a then youthful composer, and the slow movements are deeply felt. The text is a compilation of verses from five psalms out of the Anglican Prayer Book.’
