The Parliament Choir – Puccini & Bernstein – 7.30pm
The Parliament Choir presents an evening of music from Puccini and Bernstein. Puccini's Messa di Gloria was written when he was still in his teens. It is a joyful and accomplished setting of The Mass which gives glimpses of his later operatic work. Bernstein was commissioned to write a piece for the Southern Cathedrals Festival in Chichester 70 years ago. The work sets the words of five Psalms in three uplifting movements in a call for peace.

The concert also includes a performance of Rob Fenton's Ave Verum and music from cellist Oliver Simpson.
Twickenham Choral is conducted by Howard Ionascu. The choir will be joined by acclaimed soloists Cathy Bell mezzo soprano and Alexander Hopkins baritone, and accompanied by organist Andrew Lumsden.
