Bach and Pancakes, 7pm, Shrove Tuesday, 21st February
"Bach and Pancakes”, Shrove Tuesday, 21st February, 7pm, Holy Trinity, Sloane Square: Holy Trinity’s choral scholars and friends perform some of Bach’s greatest hits - the motets Lobet den Herrn and Der Geist hilft, arias such as Vergnügte Ruh, the Toccata and Fugue in D minor on HT's thundering organ. There will be 30-40 minutes of music, after which you will be invited to join one of London’s larger pancake parties, sitting at a table if you would like.
You will will be offered a pancake or two, as well as a drink – a glass of wine or beer (in the case of the latter, German beer, in keeping with the music) or something non-alcoholic. Yes, this is pre-Lenten indulgence. The evening will finish with a performance of Jesu, Joy of Man’s desiring, for which you will be invited to join the choral scholars in song. The evening will finish at around 8:45pm. You are welcome to come on your own, or in a group – you could even splash out on a table for 4 (£50) or 8 (£100) – why not use HTSS as your meeting point between north and south.
